History - We have chosen our own breeding stock to create a genetic diversity
and compliment the phenotype of our own sire and dam lines and
those here elsewhere in North America.
Limited as we are in North
America in terms of Purebred Irish Draught numbers and genetic
diversity, we have included the popular lines
as well as outcrosses that fulfill our requirements, from both
Ireland and North America. We have chosen select Thoroughbred and
Irish Draught Sport horse mares to breed to our purebred stallion
to meet the needs of those
interested in the popular Irish Draught Sport Horse.
The Connemarra
pony is known to have many of the same traits as the Irish Draught,
including substance, athleticism, temperament
and ease of keeping. In an effort to maintain those attributes
in a smaller animal for the child or smaller adult, we have
crossed our ID Stallion with our Connemarra mares producing quality
Irish
Cobs.
Mission Statement – Although
horse breeding will often follow market trends, we strive to maintain
the inherent qualities of the purebred Irish Draught that has made
it what it is today. In this regard, we are careful to breed for
type as well as for performance. We submit that “form (conformation)
follows function (performance)” and supports it. Performance
with conformation and pedigree supporting it are our main considerations
in the selection and the breeding of our own stock (see breeding
philosophy).
