Foaling
& Breeding Management
We
now have a full breeding lab to process semen and inseminate. We
will soon be getting an ultrasound to allow us to do frequent assessment
of follicle condition to assure proper timing of breeding. This
will augment our teasing program and palpation. We are accepting
mares
in preparation for breeding and for breeding by live cover or artificial
insemination. I am a retired physician/vascular surgeon experienced
in ultrasound but not a veterinarian. Your permission for either
palpation and/or ultrasound is required before I would do these
exams.
We have
two foaling stalls with adjacent foal stalls used for foaling.
One is 14 x 20 and the other is 14 x 16. They have automatic
waterers checked daily and have infrared heaters as necessary.
The mares
are monitored by video connected to an adjacent sleeping quarters
as well as by direct observation. There is easy access for transportation
if necessary.
We
will lease one of our superior broodmares for breeding to the stallion
of your choice. We give discounts on this service with a breeding
to one of our stallions. This contract is by private treaty. Our
Irish Draught lines are the best and all our broodmares on lease
are proven producers as well as successful in competition. Any
mare leased will remain on our farm during gestation and foaling.
